The collection contains correspondence, business papers, surveys, genealogical material, New Albany items and clippings, diaries, scrapbooks, and transcripts and carbon copies of some diaries and surveys. Of particular interest are letters from Jonathan Jennings to Graham, 1809-1826; Graham's diary, 1825-6; and surveys by Graham, including several of the Wabash River. A second part of the collection contains genealogical and family materials from Evelyn S. Mouser. Included is genealogical materials for the Shipman, Graham, Reese, and Rogers families; Harry Shipman's river log books; an autograph book; diaries, including those of Maria Graham Grant; and scrapbooks.

Graham, born in Pennsylvania, came to Indiana in 1804. He first settled in Clark County, then bought land in Floyd County. As a surveyor, he surveyed much of Floyd County and parts of the Wabash River. In 1816 Graham served in Indiana's constitutional convention and later in the state's House and Senate.
